Mission Statement

As your County Councilwoman for District 3, my mission is to serve with honest, dedicated leadership and a deep commitment to our community.  District 3 is a safe and vibrant community in which to live.  Together, we will continue to build a strong, welcoming community that we are proud to call home.

Accomplishments: **I attended the public meeting in January of 2023 for the new stoplights on Jeffco Blvd. A Year before I was appointed as the councilwoman for District 3, I was involved with our community. I attended this meeting and submitted some suggestions. These two stoplights will make our community safer, both at St. John’s School and at the Dollar General at East Miller Road. I was privileged to speak at the ribbon-cutting ceremony for these safety lights. **I played a key role in the reopening of the Arnold Aging Ahead Senior Center. It offers free meals, asks for a $8 donation if they can, provides activities, and fosters a strong sense of community among our seniors. The seniors who attend weekly bring me such joy and happiness. Our friendship makes my heart happy. The Arnold Senior Center opened in September 2024. **I voted for the Senior Tax Relief Program. We needed to ease the burden of real property taxes on our seniors. This was one way I could help our seniors. I am happy to say that the county has decided that our seniors do not have to reapply every year. **I voted for stronger stormwater regulations. This is part of the responsible development we need to build stronger, safer communities for the future. I don't want someone 10-15 years from now asking why I did not protect their property when I was on the council. **I have been a strong voice for responsible development in Jefferson County. Even before I was appointed to the council, I fought for responsible development. As a result, we are now receiving development proposals that are meeting our codes and ordinances. **I have voted to approve 20+ different commercial or industrial projects thus far. These projects include the new bike park, retail stores, convenience stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. **I led an overwhelming grassroots effort to bring a Youth Crisis Center into Jefferson County in 2024-2025. Although we did not ultimately receive the funding this year, I am committed to bringing this vital service to our county. I believe early intervention can make a difference in a child’s future. I will continue to seek ways to help address the social issues facing our county. **I worked with county services to clean up the carnival lot at the entrance to the Oaks Subdivision. There were many code violations on this property, and the trailers and junk are no longer on site. **I reported dangerous parent drop-off and pick-up safety issues to the county roads department as chairwoman of the roads committee. As a result of my bringing this safety concert to the attention of the road department, the county has worked with the Fox School District to make safety improvements.

I was appointed to fill the vacancy as the Jefferson County Councilwoman in District 3 on January 29, 2024, following the resignation of the current councilwoman. I have been a resident of Jefferson County since 2001. My husband, Leonard Arons, and I both retired from the Fox C6 school district.   Since my retirement, I have served as a substitute teacher in the Fox C-6 School District.

I met my husband in the Venice Public School district in Venice, Illinois, where we taught for almost ten years.  We have been married for over 35 years and have two children, both of whom graduated from Seckman High School, who still live in the area.

When I was discussing applying to the County Council, my husband also told me, “Lori,  sometimes the position calls the person.  You have to apply.”   I believe I have been called to be your Councilwoman for such a time as this.   I used to think I had the perfect retired life.  But now I realize the perfect life is where God wants me to be, when He wants me to be there, and doing what He wants me to do.  Now, I do have the perfect life.  I love what I am doing, and I would like your support to help me continue doing that for many more years.

Committed to OUR Community

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my

beliefs, values and  priorities as a Conservative Republican  and most

importantly, your public servant.

I am committed to being a strong and steady voice for the people of Jefferson County today and for the future. My beliefs are not shaped by political trends or special interests, but by timeless principles that have served our community well. Whether it is protecting your rights, standing up for shared values, or ensuring your tax dollars are used responsibly, I strive to lead with honesty, integrity, and accountability.

Faith, tradition, and strong families are the foundation of a healthy community. I am proudly pro-family and believe families are the backbone of Jefferson County. We are fortunate to have excellent public and private schools, safe neighborhoods, and a community where people can work, play, worship, and raise their families with confidence.

Responsible development is one of my top priorities. Growth is important, but it must be balanced and thoughtfully managed. Development should protect our environment, respect existing infrastructure, and preserve the character of our neighborhoods. By encouraging smart planning and responsible investment, we are seeing development that strengthens our county while keeping it livable for future generations.

I am strongly pro-law enforcement and believe our officers deserve respect, resources, and unwavering support. The men and women of the Arnold Police Department and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office put their lives on the line every day to protect our community, and I am proud to stand behind them.

I am also a strong defender of the Second Amendment. The right to bear arms is a fundamental constitutional freedom. I support responsible gun ownership and believe law-abiding citizens should never fear losing their rights. Education, training, and personal responsibility are essential to protecting both our freedoms and public safety.

As a pro-life advocate, I believe every human life is precious and deserving of protection—from the unborn to our seniors. This belief is rooted in faith and the conviction that a strong society protects its most vulnerable.

Fiscal responsibility is another cornerstone of my leadership. Government should live within its means, just like the families it serves. I support careful budgeting, reduced waste, and smart investments that deliver real value to taxpayers. We owe it to our residents to be responsible stewards of their hard-earned money.

My conservative principles such as limited government, individual responsibility, free markets, and a strong nation continue to guide every decision I make. These values have shaped our country’s success and continue to guide my service on the County Council.

Above all, I believe in Jefferson County. I believe in neighbors helping neighbors, families supporting one another, and a government that reflects the values of the people it serves. I am not seeking headlines or higher office. My heart, my family, and my commitment are here in Jefferson County not in Jefferson City, and that is where my focus will always remain.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
